Type IA IIA Facility Industrial Non-Hazardous Solid Waste Minimization and Process for Recycling Program
  • The material, which has been tested, profiled and manifested, arrives at our site via truck transport.

  • The driver presents the manifest documents to our Warehouse foreman for approval and acceptance before entering the processing area.

  • If the paperwork is in order, the material proceeds to the back of the main building to enter the plant.

  • Upon arrival, the material is visually inspected by our staff to see if the load matches the manifest.  Then, the material is off-loaded into the containment area for further inspection and verification that the load does in fact match the paper work.  If all is well at this point, the material continues into the process

    NOTE:
If a discrepancy in the load is found and the material does not conform to the manifest description, the load is rejected and returned to the generator.  (Generator is called immediately)

    NOTE:
Incoming material should be free of liquids. However, in the even that liquids are present, the containment area is fitted with a large sump containing a commercial submersible pump which evacuates liquids into an oil/water separator.  Following this step, the liquids will go into proper storage tanks for disposal and/or recycling in the case of oil.

  • Next the material in picked up with the loader and put into the shredder for processing.

    NOTE
: There is a metal catch basin (containment) directly below the cutting blades of the shredder to catch any liquids that may have carried over into this phase of the process.  This containment device is hard-piped back into the main containment area for proper routing of these liquids.

  • The shredded material is carried via a conveyor belt towards the compactor unit.  In route it will pass through an electronic metal extruder device which will remove the shredded ferrous metal fragments and deposit them into a scrap metal bin which is located adjacent to the extruder device.  This valuable material is shipped of-site to a properly permitted metals reclamation facility where the metals are smelted and re-used in industry.

NOTE:  The conveyor belt is fitted with a galvanized metal trough that catches and routes and free liquids that may still be present at this stage of the process into the catch basin under the shredder.  The collected liquids drain into the main containment area

  • The remaining shredded material continues on its journey into the compactor unit.  In the compacting chamber the material is further reduced in mass as it is crushed under 90,000 p.s.i.  by the hydraulic pre-crusher unit.  (Minimization process)

NOTE: There is a final drain station at the compactor unit for any liquids that may have come this far in the process.  This liquid is routed into an additional sump station that is tied-into the same sump station that is located in the containment area.Next, the material is pushed into one of our compactor bins, which further reduces its mass. Following this final step, the material is transported off-site to use as supplemental fuels i.e. Waste to Energy.
